Tour Notes: We toured the area while looking at a potential investment. The area is filled with a few cool restaurants and hole in the wall pubs that in some ways resemble little 5 points. We recently discovered crowdfunding company Crowdvested has put together a campaign to try and raise 250k to restore as much of the area as possible under new ownership.
The popular but previously mismanaged Glenwood Avenue Retail Center in the East Atlanta Village has finally caught a break. The retail center and it’s surrounding area was historically known for its two landlords that did very little to maintain or promote the retail properties. Thankfully this lackluster ownership is now a thing of the past and the area is on track to be revived with a makeover by developer Paces Properties. But per usual with most historic district renovations, this has stirred up some disapproval. Some believe this historic area is receiving an injustice with the historic facade being traded in for stucco and bright modern colors that don’t mix in with the area. The other sides argument basically says regardless if it is bland or obnoxiously modern, a fully occupied village beats empty and authentic any day. It will be interesting to see if this revitalization keeps the locals around while bringing in more foot traffic or sends them heading for the hills. There is plenty of units that Check out a few renderings I found in circulation below to see what the fuss is all about.
