The city of Norcross was one of my favorite places when I was growing up. It was not because of its easy access to major interstates and highways or because of its attractive and quiet little suburb feeling that is tucked away on the outskirts of Atlanta. It was not because of its preserved century-old buildings, art galleries or fancy boutiques. Norcross was my favorite place because of the people.
Many years ago, my mom would take my friend John and I to the Pinckneyville Community Recreation Center so we could enjoy the free skate park for the day. Both the Norcross kids and parents would engage in conversation and also rush to your aid if you took a spill. Even though I was probably the only Marietta kid at the skate park, I was frequently invited to dinner and birthday parties and treated as one of their own. I realized that this is a close knit community of families who care about children, and is a place where the word “stranger” does not apply.
Close to the Recreation Center is 7074 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Norcross, GA 30071. Acquired as an 80’s office building with humble decor, it has now been transformed by David Sparks and his company, Global Service Solutions, into a truly modern office. These tucked away and spacious class “B” 2 story office buildings were a perfect fit for GSS. The renovations are truly stunning…one of the best transformations I have seen.
